Silly Willy Twisty Tales...

Last week in class we got our first writing assignment: re-write our favorite folktale or story from childhood with a twist. But, what oh what should I write? I love Cinderella. What if Cinderella was an unattractive bookworm and her step-sisters were the attractive ones? Or from Prince Charmings perspective? Or from Bruno the dog's perspective? What if it was modern times and Cinderella was a prostitute? Oh that one could be interesting! ahhh but Cinderella just won't do, it just seems too common of a story. Then what? What if Lady was the Tramp? ha ha ha that could be funny, I wonder if a stray female dog would get treated the same as the stray male dog? hmmm something to consider. The Wizard of OZ, but instaed of virtures, Dorthy can be looking for her Prince Charming with a happily ever after? That could get interesting as she works her way through relationships with the Tin Man, Scarecrow and Cowardly Lion, then finally meeting the Great Wizard himself, who becomes her Prince Charming. Ha ha ha that would be too funny! Peter Pan is another favorite of mine, what if parents did NOT want their children to grow-up, but wanted them to stay kids forever. Then Peter Pan visists and takes the kids to Never Never Land where you must grow up and become part of corporate america? Or Snow White with a cultural twist that valued dark skintones, where fair and white was not beautiful, but smooth brown skin was the most beautiful of all. Ahhh that might work! I LOVE all these older fairytales and folklore stories, but not many refer to the beauty that my daughter posseses, she is beautiful Mahogany Brown and NOT fair Snow White. With this introduction I shyly present the story of Mahogany Brown...
